time of year I usually think about where I am and where I'm going.
For goodness sake, we're at the middle of 2006! Time is
flying.
If I told you how many knuckle-head things I've done this year you'd have one long, loud belly-laugh. Just one example is how I have NOT written to you. I should have done it sooner. But I'm making changes. My commitment is to get you practical, useful information that saves you time, money and helps you achieve your goals (hey, I'm using this information also ).

Most people discount the powerful impact emotions
have on their success or failure. But this can be a big mistake.
Consider the words of Napoleon Hill the author of the legendary
classic 'Think And Grow Rich'...

"The
emotions, or the 'feeling' portion of thoughts, are the
factors which give thoughts vitality, life, and action."
He also said...
"ALL
THOUGHTS WHICH HAVE BEEN EMOTIONALIZED, (given feeling) AND
MIXED WITH FAITH, begin immediately to translate themselves into
their physical equivalent or counterpart."

Now you might think that Napoleon Hill, in the above quote, over promises but let me give you some
surprising research by a billion dollar retail corporation.
In the book "The Marketing Power of Emotion" by O'Shaughnessy and
O'Shaughnessy they discuss an unusual study. The study reveals the
"Emotion in Cola Buying by Teenagers". That's right 'emotion' in
cola buying. Did you know that there's emotion in cola buying?
Neither did I. But it turns out that there's a huge emotional
thought process. Let's take a look...
Marketers collected the thoughts of teenagers in New York City, aged
13 and 14. The teenagers were asked to think aloud "off the top of
their heads," about the 3 different stages of the cola-soda
experience.
The teenagers were asked...
1. Think aloud about your thoughts just before you
buy cola (anticipation...)
2. Think aloud about your thoughts during buying
3. Think aloud about your thoughts after buying (the retrospective
account )
Here's how they answered the first question...
just before buying they thought of "being full of life, not
miserable or sluggish".
Notice that emotions are driving their desire to buy cola. And their
emotions are based on imagination (Napoleon Hill's 5th Step To Riches).
Here's how they answered the second question...
while buying they felt "relaxed, not tense or anxious".
Wow! When
you consider all the emotion they got for just 99 cents it doesn't
sound like a bad deal. And it didn't end there...
Here's how they answered the final question...
After buying they felt like they were "part of a social group, not
and outsider looking on".
Did you know so much thinking and emotion went into buying a cola?
You can be pretty certain that even the teenagers weren't aware of
their own thought processes. In fact, cognitive psychologists
estimate that 99% of our daily thoughts are unconscious!
What does this mean to you? How can this information help you succeed?
You can take a page out of the marketer's book. Examine the 3 stages
of 'buying' your own "success producing activities".
How do you feel about success-producing activities like
goal-setting, affirmations, planning, visualizations or reading?
Key Question:
What emotional thoughts do you attach to activities that build your
success?
How do you feel BEFORE the success-producing activity?
How do you feel DURING the success-producing activity?
How do you feel AFTER the success-producing activity?
A negative answer to any one of these questions can sabotage your
success.
Everything you do has 3 sets of feelings. Unfortunately negative
feelings in any of the 3 keys areas can prevent you from taking
action.
The beauty of this new information is that now that you're aware of
these stages you can consciously set yourself up for success.
